Growing up, I saw the women in my family—mothers, wives, aunts—pour their hearts into building homes and nurturing families, yet their work often went unnoticed and unappreciated. This left a deep impact on me and sparked a lifelong curiosity: Why is homemaking, the backbone of our lives, so undervalued? As I progressed in my professional journey, I discovered striking similarities between running a successful organization and managing a home. This realization became the foundation of my work: bridging the gap between these two worlds to foster respect for home and homemakers and create happier, more balanced lives. I am a home science graduate with over 10+years of experience in risk management field and I started my journey of defining a Home in 2015. I have launched relaunching my workshop ‘Santulan- Making Gender Differences Work’ as 'Understanding Couple Relationships Better'. In my quest to defining a Home, I found that multiple dimensions work simultaneously in a Home like chores, parenting, couple relationships and relationships with other family members and between them only we learn skills with which we build our future. My mission is to empower individuals to make happier homes and families so that they are healthy, happier and stress free in their professional lives. To honor the invisible yet invaluable work of homemakers, I founded the ‘Familymaker Awards- Honouring the work of homemaker’, the first of their kind, celebrating both men and women who challenge stereotypes and redefine homemaking as a vital, skilled role. The first Familymaker Awards was done on 8th October 2023 in Noida and the 2nd one was done on 28th April in 2024 in Delhi, India. My book, Home: The Missing Piece/Peace, further explores these themes and is available on Flipkart and Amazon. I believe that a strong home creates stronger individuals, families, and workplaces. Let’s work together to create a world where balance is a strength, not a struggle. I finally found the answers to my question as to why we do not accept work done in a Home as work and that is elaborated in my recently launched course 'Understanding Couple Relationships Better'.
